Aperture Project This was an in class assignment where we went out as groups to take pictures with different apertures and learn how it worked and the types of things we could do. Depending on the picture and the angle, we had to change the aperture to get the result we wanted.
Illusion Project In this project, our objective was to take pictures that distorted perspective, and edit them in a way where they showed aspects of illusion. For mine, the first one I wanted to show how a student has to balance everything with school, so I took a photo of a student with crutches and edited him balancing on a pencil. Then, to show a little more perspective I changed the background to one of the grand canyon to show a vast landscape. For my second photo, I took a picture of a police car and edited people into it. I made it so the people were either not white or not straight, because with everything going on in America today in terms of police brutality etc ., and put them on the wheel to show them scared of the police and running away from them, because it sends a strong message.
Spooky Project In this project, our goal was to take pictures of things that could be considered "spooky" and then use Photoshop to further enhance the creepy vibe. To come up with my ideas, I looked around and tried to find areas where something creepy could be, and then I kind of built off of there and figured out things to add that will make it look better and fit the theme. I hope a viewer would see them and feel somewhat spooked or at least say that they really fit that theme well. Also, I think the strongest aspect of my project was the ending edits. They ended up looking a lot better than I thought they would, and I like how the coloring and lighting is.
Focal Point These photos are from the focal point project. We had to take photos of different things that we could make the central point of interest of the picture. Different viewpoints and focusing the camera on certain parts were two of the main techniques we used in this shoot. My favoite photo taken was the one of the cigarette pack. I think I would definitely use the techniques of changing your position in order to capture the focal point from a different perspective in my future work.
Texture & Perspective These photos are from the texture project. The objective was to take pictures of different things that showed some kind of texture, and like the focal point project, we needed to use different viewpoints. Also, other techniques we needed to use were filling the frame and zooming in. Also, learning about new perspectives such as birds eye view, worms eye, etc., will help improve my photography because if I want to capture a certain shot, I can have multiple options for the viewpoint.
Self Collage These are some of the pictures I used for my self collage project. I used ones that include things or people who I love, because they are very important to me and they make me happy.
Rules of Composition These were pictures I took and used for the rules of composition project. With this project, we had to take pictures, or use pictures we had previously taken, that displayed one or more rules of composition, such as symmetry, leading lines, rule of thirds, etc. Many of my pictures show multiple of these rules.
Color Adjustment Project With this project, we had to upload some of our pictures from the focal point shoot to photoshop and change them to black and white, and also change the toning. I didnt know how to change the toning, so that is a new skill I have and I am definitely looking foward to using it in the future to edit more pictures.
